All curriculum at Trinity Lutheran Preschool is carefully chosen to ensure it is developmentally appropriate, recognizes learning as a growth process, and provides concrete, hands-on learning opportunities that are in alignment with how young children approach the world.
Trinity Lutheran Preschool utilizes Get Set for School and Zoo Phonics to introduce and develop early literacy skills. Children can expect to encounter activities and centers that develop alphabet knowledge and appreciation for books and reading, as well as phonological awareness (I hear it and say it), comprehension (Oh, I get it!), oral language (I can tell you), and writing (It's my story).
Drawing from the Get Set for School Math curriculum, children are introduced to mathematical concepts including numbers and operations, geometry, patterns, measurement and time. Activities and centers are strategically planned to develop critical thinking and problem solving skills.
Capitalizing on children's natural inquisitiveness, Trinity Lutheran Preschool presents introductory experiences linked to a variety of scientific disciplines, including physics (Gravity, Magnets and Light), geology (Fossils, Rocks and Volcanos), chemistry (Solids & Liquids, Colors and Freezing), meteorology (Sun, Water Cycle, Seasons, Thermometer), botany (Plants, Flowers, Seeds, Leaves, Stems & Roots) and zoology (Fish, Butterflies, Invertebrates, Mammals, Reptiles, Birds).
Based on the Get Set for School curriculum, Trinity Lutheran Preschool presents developmentally-appropriate tasks and challenges to children which encourage development of crucial fine motor skills through drawing, coloring, manipulation of objects and materials, and process art experimentation. Children are taught the basic building blocks of letters and numbers and presented with frequent opportunities for exploration of how the component parts assemble into meaningful complete symbols.
